1. emilylmansonmiller Emily L. Manson (daughter of Capt. Jean Francois & Margaret Anne Paris Manson) was born on 9 November 1835 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.1 Early census records indicate that Emily was born in France, but because Francois immigrated in 1834, she was probably born in the United States. The 1870 census shows her birthplace as Ohio.
      She appeared in the census on 7 June 1880 in Walnut Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio.2 The 1880 census lists Emily living alone with her 2 children and sister Mary Rose (Rose Ann). The census shows the family as: Emily (Manson) Miller age 43, Emily J. a.15, Kittie A. a.14 and Mary Rose a.61. The children are the daughters of Frederick. Frederick is not listed in this census and Emily is shown as head of the household. Fred's mother is a widow by 1910 and states that all of her children are alive in 1910.
      She appeared in the census on 20 June 1900 in New Salem, Walnut Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio.3 The 1900 census has Emily living alone as: Emily Miller [wash woman] [divorced] a.65 b.Ohio p.b.France. The census shows Emily having had 2 children with 2 alive in 1900.
      Emily died on 20 March 1904 at the age of 68 in New Salem, Fairfield Co., Ohio.4,5 Emily's death certificate states the following: Died 20 March 1903 (sic), age 69y 4mo 19days. Widow, Walnut Township. Died in New Salem. Cause of death chronic nephritis. Emily's grave marker reads: Emily wife of Frederick Miller Died March 20, 1904 aged 68y, 4m, 11d.
      She was buried after 20 March 1904 in the New Salem MP Cemetery, Fairfield Co., Ohio.1
      She had an estate filed for probate on 26 March 1904 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.6 Emily's estate was appraized at $780. Included in that estate was lot # 10 in New Salem, located insection 24, twp. 16, range 18, valued at $150. Two heirs were listed: Emma Berry of Beaverton [Gladwin County] Michigan and Kate Bodell of Miller [Diller, Jefferson County] Nebraska. { [ ] Transcriber's inserts.}

Emily L. Manson and Daniel L. Miller (son of James Miller and Narcissus T. Shaw) were married on 18 February 1856 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.7 Emily and Daniel were married by James H. Hamilton M. G. Their marriage was announced in the Lancaster Gazette on February 28, 1856 pg. 53. Married Feb. 18.
Daniel L. Miller was born on 3 April 1835 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.1
      He died on 18 November 1856 at the age of 21 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.8
      He was buried after 18 November 1856 in the New Salem MP Cemetery, Fairfield Co., Ohio.1

Emily L. Manson and Frederick Miller (son of Tobias Miller and Mariah "Mary" (Miller\mar)) were married on 13 October 1864 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.9 Emily and Frederick were married by Henry King.
      They9 were divorced between 1871 and 1880 in Fairfield Co., Ohio.10
fredrickmiller Frederick Miller was born in 1842 in Kanton Bern, Switzerland.11,12
      About 1870 he was a Shoemaker in Walnut Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio.12
      He appeared in the census on 21 June 1870 in Walnut Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio.13 The 1870 census lists Frederick's family as: Frederick Miller [shoe maker] age 28, Emily age 31, Jane age 6 and Catherine age 4. The census lists Frederick's birthplace as "a foreign county" written over the words "For-- State Unknown."
      Frederick's father was a shoemaker.
